Australia’s boxing superstar Tim Tszyu is returning to the ring at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena this summer.
The bout will be against Japanese fighter Takeshi Inoue. The fight was supposed to take part at the Gold Coast Convention Centre
Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena will on Thursday be officially announced as the new venue for Tim Tszyu’s fight with Takeshi Inoue.
The venue has been operating as a vaccination hub but by Wednesday 17 November it will be opened to 75 per cent capacity, meaning over 10,000 tickets will be available.
Promoter No Limit exhausted all avenues in trying to keep the event on the Gold Coast but Queensland’s tough border policies ultimately forced the change.
The event is due to get underway at 7pm AEDT on Wednesday, November 17.
Tickets for the fight have not yet been released.
Tszyu will be taking on 31-year-old Japanese and world no.7 in the super-welterweight division Takeshi Inoue.
Tszyu could have sat out and waited for his shot at the belt, instead he’s taking on the former world title challenger (17-1-1).
Promoter George Rose was hesitant in setting up the bout for Tszyu because of the danger Inoue poses in the ring.
“Tim asked us to find him a hard fight out there; he wanted someone to challenge him for a world title fight,” Rose said to ABC.
The fight will be on Foxtel’s main event and streaming service Kayo’s pay-per-view
It will cost $59.95.
Replays will be 6am,12pm and 6pm on November 18.
Odds are not yet available for the fight.
