England’s second match of their Autumn Internationals 2021 campaign, also known as the Autumn Nations Series, is against Australia at Twickenham.
England will face Australia at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday 13th November. This will be the second of three autumn internationals to be played by Australia vs England live Rugby in 2021. The winner of this match will be awarded the Cook Cup.
Australia’s autumn tour has been hit by several front-line withdrawals after Samu Kerevi, Sean McMahon and Quade Cooper all opted to stay in Japan rather than travel to the UK.
Coach Eddie Jones has catapulted young, uncapped flyhalf Marcus Smith to seemingly being the keystone to a much-needed sea-change in England’s entire attacking mentality two years out from the next World Cup.
Smith, 22, had one of the most remarkable summers any rugby player can ever have experienced as he first inspired Harlequins to their incredible semi-final comeback against Bristol and then to the Premiership title win over Exeter.
A week later he made his full England debut against the US and as he left the pitch after his second game against Canada a week on, he discovered he had been called up as an injury replacement for the British & Irish Lions.
He managed all that while maintaining his electric, exciting attacking approach and also nailing goalkicks with relentless accuracy, dispelling any lingering doubts his young shoulders were not ready for the pressure of the game’s biggest stages.
