Alberta to host 2022 World Juniors Hockey

It will begin on December 26, 2021, and will end with the gold medal game being played on January 5, 2022.

The 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship will take place in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta, from Dec. 26- Jan. 5, 2022. More information about the event, including group assignments and schedules, will be released at a later time.

Most recently, the U.S. National Junior Team claimed their fifth gold medal at the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship.

The U.S. finished first in Group B after the preliminary round before defeating Slovakia in the quarterfinals and Finland in the semifinals.

Behind 34 saves from Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) and goals from Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N.Y.) and Alex Turcotte (Chicago, Ill.), the U.S. defeated Canada, 2-0, in a thrilling world juniors gold medal game 2022. It was the fifth time in the last six years that Team USA has medaled in the event, the best medal stretch in the nation’s history.

To date, the U.S. National World Juniors Hockey Team has claimed 13 medals, including five gold (2021, 2017, 2013, 2010, 2004), two silver (2019, 1997) and six bronze medals (2018, 2016, 2011, 2007, 1992, 1986).
